...However he still has his music, so he adjusts his hold on his harp and plays the first song he'd ever written for her. He dares to slowly approach.
"Will you stay, now? For as long as I stay on Numenor? I have missed you."

The song gentles her, until she remembers she's supposed to be still cross.
"Have you truly?" She sniffs, to hide how their first song makes her want to cry.
"Will you leave me behind again?"

He doesn't stop until there's maybe a foot between them, as the song trails off. "I have," he answers softly, heart aching.
"Would it help if I told you I was afraid?" Of rejection. Far easier to ignore any possibility than to chance it. Right?
"...I cannot go West, my love. But if you are willing, when Elros is gone, I will be returning to Middle-Earth. To Elrond."
