And love grew between them, as little might be thought

Elros Tar-Minyatur ruled the Númenóreans for four hundred years and ten. For to the Númenóreans long life had been granted, and they remained unwearied for thrice the span of mortal Men in Middle-earth; but to Eärendil's son the longest life of any Man was given

Elros frowns a little as the joy of reunion starts to settle to content, and he registers that something is... not quite right, with his twin.
What are you hiding?

Technicalities. Elrond pulls back to smile at his brother then tugs him down to sit beside him.
"Before you hit me, brother, let me ask- do I not seem older than when you saw me last?"
no subject
"... Yes. What gives, Elrond? You're supposed to be the immortal of the two of us. What's happened?"
no subject
The mirth fades, but there's still light and lingering joy in him. Partially because he has his brother again, but also just because he hadn't lost sight of it before. He won't start now.
"Immortal does not mean time does not touch. I have seen many centuries between when I saw you last."
no subject
"I'm sorry - that must mean I've been gone for ages. Are you alright?"
no subject
"We knew it would happen, once we made different choices." Not that that helped. "There has been more darkness, but light remains. Including in your descendants, my brother."
no subject
"We did. And I hope they keep you on your toes!"
Pause for dramatic impact...
"As do your own little ones. So tell me, brother, when were you planning on mentioning your crush on aunt Galadriel's pretty daughter?"
no subject
He chuckles, fond. "Oh, they do," he assures.
And then slooowly flushes. "...Ah...Considering I had yet to meet her when I saw you last?"
no subject
"I hear you are very sweet together. Three children! You'll have to make sure to keep me appraised when we get home."
no subject
"They keep me on my toes," he answers fondly. Suddenly he doesn't mind his brother's teasing. "Celebrian is...light." So he'll add fuel to the fire of brotherly torment. "My twin sons cause just about as much havoc as we did, and Arwen makes every effort to appear sweet and innocent- all the way up until you realize she's encouraging her brothers to do worse!"
no subject
"It certainly sounds like one of us at least managed to fulfil Maedhros' dire wish that we would have children just like us one day!"
no subject
Elrond laughs softly and nudges his brother pointedly. "We both do, Elros." So there!

"Especially now when you have yet to meet them!"

"Shall I write vivid accounts of their behavior then?"

Elros nudges back fondly
