Maglor aims a soft swat at him, smile warming.

"Even when you perhaps should."

His smile gentles in answer, but his answer is firm.

"Why should I, when I can change nothing? Better to move forwards."

[seawanderer]

"Ah, Elros. You can change much just by being you."

And by out-stubborning everyone around him.

"Have you eaten? Your precious daughter was kind and had some food brought."

Elros laughs and pulls away.

"Not yet - I came straight from the Healing Halls. She's a good girl."

Maglor grins faintly and reaches for Elros' hand to tug him to the table.

"You have beautiful children, Elros."

Maglor should be grateful cameras haven't been invented yet

Elros comes willingly, temper soothed.

"I do." He says in the besotted tones of every father everywhere. "You should have seen them when they were born! So tiny! I wish there was a way to capture every moment. Do you know, Tindómiel's very first word was 'mine'! Such a little princess. You haven't met Vardamir yet, he's still in with his tutor, but isn't Manwendil cute? He's very fond of his sister - follows her everywhere."

Oh good. Maglor hates when Elros is angry with him, even though he still believes both boys should be!

His grin widens at the familiar tone and listens eagerly. "That does not surprise me! She was lecturing me over your goodness." Which was adorable.

"Oh, I assume this means I'm forgiven for not giving her a pony then." Elros says cheerfully.

"She was still angry at me this morning as Vardamir is old enough but she is not."

"She loves you," he answers instead. "As well she should."

Maglor nudges Elros fondly. "Children get angry."

Hughes and Hughes dad?

Elros grins back at him, utterly unashamed.

"That is true. Particularly with cousins who really should know better!"

giggle yesssss

"Family should always know better," he retorts primly, eyes dancing.

[tar_minyatur]

"They should, AND YET!" Elros waggles his eyebrows at Maglor suggestively.

Just for that, Elros gets a grape thrown at him!

"Not everyone is perfect, yonya!"

[tar_minyatur]

Elros, of course, being a brat, catches it in his mouth.

"Sad, but true! But now you're looking less like death warmed over we can get you cleaned up before Elrond gets here."

[seawanderer]

Such a brat.

"You said you do not even know how quickly he will be here," no comment on how he'd looked before! "Do your people know who I am?"

[tar_minyatur]

"No, but I'd bet on him arriving within a week - the winds have been favourable!"

Elros nods.

"Not all of them, no. But those within the palace do."

[seawanderer]

"...Lord Ulmo has always favored your family," he muses.

A wince. "I am surprised to still be here."

[tar_minyatur]

"They owe us." Elros shrugs cheerfully.

He rolls his eyes at the wince.

"I'm a king of Men, not Elves. You're little more than a legend. Everyone's fascinated, not angered."

[seawanderer]

"Be careful which battles you choose to fight," he warns softly, worried. "Not all are yours, and I will not see you hurt because of me and my mistakes."

Maglor smiles wanly. "A story I should remain. Not reality."

Elros snorts at him fondly.

"I am one of your mistakes, and I am still here. And if they were going to punish me for that, they'd have done it already. And I think he's fond of you too you know. How else do you think you got here?"

[seawanderer]

"No!" He denies immediately. "You and your brother are one of the good things I have done!"

And he loves and is proud of them both. "Perhaps he did not wish to drown those who found and brought me here, even if it meant getting me."

Elros rolls his eyes again.

"Or maybe he tossed you up for us to find. Ever think about that?"

[seawanderer]

"Keep rolling your eyes and they'll never stop," he playfully chides.

"...They do tend to have that sort of sense of humor." Warped, of course.

[tar_minyatur]

"I like rolling my eyes it expresses my emotions!"

Elros grins.

"Uh huh. Island nation. Surrounded by ocean." He points out. "And you show up here, of all places. I think you're on better terms with him, at least, than you think."

Maglor can't help but laugh, fond at this fosterling of his.

But Elros' theory sends a spike of cold down his spine and he shakes his head. "I think you overestimate his forgiveness." Never mind the fact he'd thrown his Silmaril into the sea in what could be argued as hope that the Vala would catch it and accept it.
