Elros Tar-Minyatur ruled the Númenóreans for four hundred years and ten. For to the Númenóreans long life had been granted, and they remained unwearied for thrice the span of mortal Men in Middle-earth; but to Eärendil's son the longest life of any Man was given

Maglor hums softly, eyes slipping closed under the gentle hand.

"No where is safe," but he doesn't sound too upset or bothered by that statement.

"Ghost."

[tar_minyatur]

"You most certainly feel solid to me."

Elros pokes him.

"Sleep, you idiot. You're safe because I say you are."

[seawanderer]

He smiles tiredly, barely seeming to notice the poke.

"Can't stay forever," he argues anyway. But he'll be asleep seconds later, and will actually sleep for a couple days.

Will he wake alone?

"Forever is a very long time."

Elros says softly as he watches him drop off.

Alone? Well. Sort of...

Maglor will wake to hushed voices of young children arguing about wether he is asleep and should they wake him, and gauzy curtains blowing in the sea breeze and very definitely not in the healing wards.

He keeps his eyes closed, trying to place the voices and where he's been brought. But it doesn't take long to figure out what his fosterling had done, just...why? Why bother?

Maglor continues to feign sleep though, curious to see just how long it would take the children to make up their minds.

"...I say we wake him, and I'm older than you!"

"Fine! But I'm telling father if we get in trouble!"

Small hands tug at the bedclothes, and then a brother and sister climb up onto the bed and eye him.

"It's creepy, he has his eyes open!" The little boy protests

"That's how elves sleep, stupid. Didn't you see the ambassador napping?"

...Oh that's too tempting to pass up. Arguing children, claiming how he sleeps is creepy...!

Maglor suddenly moves, reaching to tug the children close. "Your father should keep a closer eye on you!"

He's rewarded with twin shrieks, and the older sister moves to try and push her brother clear, only stopping when she realises what's happened.

"You were lying!" She accuses, looking betrayed.

"Told you." Her brother mumbles.

[seawanderer]

He smiles, blinking lazily as he releases them and slowly pushes himself up to look curiously around.

"I was not," he denies. "Not until you woke me with your arguments!"

"We were quiet!/I told you not to speak so loudly!" Their voices overlap each other as they glare at each other from across him.

[seawanderer]

Maglor stifles a laugh and shyly ruffles their hair.

"It is not nice to argue with your siblings, little ones. Where are your parents?"

[tar_minyatur]

"Out." Comes the stereo response, the two of them clearly quite content to sit there with him for the moment.

"Today's the day atto goes to check on the Healing Wards, and amil goes to the House of Bread to help distribute food to the needy." The girl informs him.

"Are you going to stay in bed more?"

[seawanderer]

Such sweet children! He eventually forces himself to pull away a little.

"How long have I been asleep?"

Pride fills him hearing how Elros cares for his people, though it doesn't surprise him. "Perhaps I should, your atto might get upset if he finds me out of bed!"

[tar_minyatur]

"FOREVER" the little boy informs him and his sister shoves him, fondly.

"Days and days and days." She says. "Are you hungry? We aren't allowed to eat in bed but since you're a guest..."

[seawanderer]

He grins fondly before raising a brow.

"You should listen to your parents, for they are wise. Help me to the table and we can eat there."

"You're tall." The boy informs him solemly.

"We won't be able to lift you."

His sister slips off and eyes the table.

"Maybe if we pull the table over..."

[seawanderer]

"I will help you," he promises amiably, and moves to slip from the bed. He'll make a show of needing their support of course!

They brighten at that, and the older girl goes running to the table while the boy "helps" Maglor stand.

[seawanderer]

He drags an arm over the little boy's shoulders, slouching over to make it easier, and lets himself be led over to the table before flopping into a chair with a theatrical little groan.

The boy looks thrilled to be allowed to help, and the girl ducks out into the coridoor to ask for a meal to be brought, before coming back and sitting at his feet.

"Father is very worried about you."

[seawanderer]

Maglor gently touches the top of her head in thanks.

"...I fear I have given him cause to," though Elros really really shouldn't bother!

"But I am here now, and it seems he means for me to stay." Which scares him silly.

The little boy takes the opportunity to crawl into his lap.

"That's good." He says and sticks his thumb into his mouth.

"Why?" His sister asks instead.

[seawanderer]

He wraps a supportive arm around the little boy and absently presses a kiss to the top of his head.

"Because of my past, young ones. It is not for the faint of heart, and if he wishes you to know it, you should go to him."

...Which he knows has doomed his fosterling, but it's his own fault!

The girl ponders this as her brother falls asleep in Maglor's lap and a servant brings a tray of fruit and some fresh water.

"But if he wants you to stay it cannot be very bad."

She reasons eventually, and steals a grape.

[seawanderer]

He has plenty of practice holding a child in one arm and eating with the other.

Maglor shyly nods at the servants in thanks, plucking a grape for himself.

"Your father is biased in my favor, while others are not."
